Don’t be such a prick & lighten up on the avocado already.
This poor guy gets a bad rap for having a higher fat content then most fruits (yes he’s a fruit), but it doesn’t mean we should just let him rot.
Just look at the avocado’s impressive resume:
- Vitamin C (necessary for normal grown & development)
- Vitamin K (without it our blood would not clot)
- Folate (promotes healthy cell and tissue development)
- Potassium (responsible for the proper function of cells, tissues, and organs)
- Thiamine (converts carbs to glucose to fuel the brain and nervous system)
- Riboflavin (helps the body release energy from proteins)
- Monounsaturated fats (which have been shown to help reduce cholesterol)
Because they are higher in fat & calories, just be sure to control your consumption. To keep things interesting, I like to replace the normal fats from my meals (tofu, tempeh, nuts, seeds, etc.) with an avocado from time to time.
Avocados are great on salads, sandwiches, & in wraps. They also have some great dessert recipes out there that use avocados too.
How do you like to use avocados?
I love avocados! It might be a product of my vaguely Brazilian upbringing, but it seems unnatural to me for it to be used in salty dishes, though. I love putting an avodcado or two in a smoothie— it doesn’t really alter the flavour but it adds an ~amazing~ creaminess to the whole thing. If I’m too lazy to make a smoothie, I just cut open the avocado, add a little sugar and lemon juice, and scoop it right out of the skin with a spoon.
Yes, I get that sugar is the devil for a lot of people working on weight control, but it’s better for you than stuffing yourself with sweeteners. Your body doesn’t know how to handle that processed crap and it’s reaction is basically:

Omg completely missed week 2. Sadness! I wasn’t very good with my workouts, but I was eating pretty well thankfully. :)
Week 3 of the 5 week workout plan has the weights increased to 5 lbs. I couldn’t find anything in the pantry so I had to actually go and buy weights! So long, ghetto-fabulous workout~
Finally made a workout playlist, and more awesomely I got these amaaazing headphones from Ross. They’re giant, in obnoxiously bright primary colors, and have Thor on the ear pieces!

Yay Avengers! Paired with my Iron Man t-shirt I shall rock out my nerd chic look :P
Weight update: 120 lbs - boo yah! /dance of triumph
What’s that? Today’s the day for another set of cardio workouts?

But no, I actually did do the workout. Not gonna post the music because it’s basically the same songs I previously posted. At some point I’ll make a proper playlist for working out.
Tomorrow it’s the workout for muscle definition!

I like alliteration, okay?
Toning workout today. I had to replace my bottled water fake-weights because they weren’t heavy enough— only one pound and the workout calls for three. The only substitute I could find were those containers of kosher salt, which are almost two pounds. I think I might actually have to buy weights! Nooooooo. D:
Also did a brisk walk with my mum again. I think I might stick with a Mon/Wed/Fri walking schedule because the cardio workouts for Tue/Thur are MURDER. Lots of murder. Bodies everywhere murder.
Today’s Workout Playlist
Sara Bareilles - “King of Anything”
Kirby Heyborne - “Chances”
Carbon Leaf - “Life Less Ordinary”
Theirry Amiel - “C’est Ecrit”
House of Heroes - “God Save The Foolish Kings”
Editors - “Papillon”
Rooney - “Can’t Get Enough”
I think it’s kind of funny that all the music so far has come from fanmixes. Inception mostly, but also Sherlock and Star Trek… lol!
Anyone who’s ever walked away from the table only to be starving moments later (Chinese food, we’re looking at you) knows that certain edibles can leave you more famished than you were before you ate ‘em. If you want to stay satisfied longer—a key to…

Tuesday is for cardio! And man, I thought the strength exercises I was doing yesterday were hard? OMG I though I was gonna die today. The routine was five different fitness moves you do for one minute each, then repeating it all over again until you’ve cardio’d for 25 minutes. By the end of it I was doing them all out of order as I figured out which ones I could handle for longer— like, I have really bad arches so I would substitute shadow-boxing for a lot of the jumping jacks. (the official workout here)
Yesterday I ended up maxing out my 1200-calorie intake D: Like, way over the limit. At least I got all my vitamins and my water! Will try to do better food-wise today.
Today’s workout playlist:
La Roux - “Bulletproof”
The Offpspring - “You’re Gonna go far, Kid”
Gomez - “How We Operate”
Lady Gaga - “Bad Romance”
Dirty Pretty Things - “Bang Bang You’re Dead”
Tegan & Sara - “Sentimental Tune”
Hurts - “Better Than Love”
Seether - “Breakdown”

Started the five-week workout today! Though I totally think of it as the five-week challenge, because I’m competitive like that. On top of Monday’s strength workout, I dragged me mum out of bed to join me for a half-hour walk :)
Today’s fitness playlist:
Autovaughn - “Hell of a Place”
Seether - “6 Gun Quota”
Depeche Mode - “A Pain That I’m Used To”
Lena - “Satellite”
Regina Spektor - “The Call”
Lady Gaga - “Bad Romance”
Switchfoot - “This Is Home”
Sum41 - “Fatlip”
Mika - “Blame It On The Girls”
Cute Is What We Aim for - “Practice Makes Perfect”
Hurts - “Better Than Love”
The Offspring - “You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid”
Charlotte Church - “Call My Name”
My idea of a 5 min cardio warm up is to dance like a crazy person. Or in a mosh pit. It’s fun— I highly recommend listening to “Bad Romance” for this!
ETA: the strength workout calls for 3 lbs weights, which I don’t have, so I’m substituting water bottles. I’ll just increase to bigger ones when I need to up the weight, right? XD
